April showers may bring May flowers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to stop raining once it hits May. The past couple of weeks has been just one day after another of dark gloomy skies and down pours of rain. When we scheduled Jessica’s maternity session, we were cutting it pretty close to her due date so rescheduling was a little iffy. When the day of the session came, it was, of course, raining again. The forecast indicated a clearing around session time, so we decided to risk it. I am so glad that we did.
The session started off without a drop of rain, but very saturated ground and mud everywhere! I felt so bad for Jon in his nice shoes walking around in the slop. Jessica wore flip flops as instructed and didn’t have an issue. Everywhere we walked was just a splashing of mud and water. I tended to get stuck in the mud and had to pull my boots out with a loud sucking noise that was just ridiculous! This would be why you won’t see me dressed nice when I show up to photograph your session. I have a habit of ending up on the ground. Sometimes it’s even intentional :-).
As the session progressed, the rain which had started as a sprinkle turned into a pretty steady down pour by the time I wrapped it up (as you can tell by Jessica’s dress). But you know what, I wouldn’t have had it any other way! The flowers were beautiful and provided a perfect background for Jessica and Jon to share their love and anticipation for their impending arrival. I am so happy that Jessica decided on a maternity session. These are those moments! Document them!
